New office for Kelana Jaya MCA division
By LIM CHIA YING
THE Kelana Jaya MCA division is determined to make itself
still relevant to the people in Subang Jaya and Kelana Jaya
and plans for activities are already in the pipeline.
For a start, it has set up a new office in a shoplot at the
Regalia Business Centre in USJ 1, which is being equipped
and furnished.

Division chairman Ong Chong Swen, who also doubles as the
division Wanita chairman, said the office would comprise an
administration office (to function as a secretariat), a
discussion-cum-study area and a public service bureau.
“Sponsors and donors have kindly contributed different items
to our office when they learnt that we needed some items,”
Ong said as she showed StarMetro the new centre.
“We also have a piano, as we plan to continue with our choir
group. This choir is open to interested residents and we
have a professional teacher to coach the group every
Thursday.
“The group will have a chance to perform when there are
occasions like the Pesta Tanglung.”
She said the office was not fully operational yet and would
only be opened on Oct 21.
She is now making intense preparations to compete in the
party elections this month, at which she will be vying for a
central committee member post at the national level.
“We intend to keep Tuesday as our day to meet the people,
from 8.30pm to 10.30pm, as has been the practice all along.
“We welcome the public to channel their complaints to us and
give their input.
“Hopefully, the community can still give us a chance to be
part of it, which is why we would like people to see that we
are here to stay, and still relevant by being better than
before,” she said.
The emphasis was on activities for youths, she said.
Division deputy chairman Lim Kok Sai said the centre’s
public service bureau would function to direct residents to
the right place if they needed to get things done.
“This bureau will also be organising political forums to
speak up on political developments that are of interest to
the Chinese community,” said Lim.
Ong said the Women, Family, and Community Development
Ministry would be placing a welfare officer in the office to
look into welfare cases.
“The officer will help reach out to the poor and help them
in getting financial aid or subsidies.”
She stressed that teamwork was important, and that all
division members must be open to each other’s ideas for
activities.
“If a member comes to me and says he wishes to organise
something and the division thinks it’s good, then we’ll let
him handle it.
“Even our office now is not fragmented, which allows for
open and through-way communication so that we can service
the people better.”
The new office is located at 39-2, Jalan USJ 1/1A, Regalia
Business Centre, Subang Jaya.
