KELANA Jaya parliamentary co-ordinator Ong Chong
Swen is reaching out to voters in the
constituency through the distribution of
table-top calendars.
A total of 10,000 calendars have
been printed and Ong’s target is to distribute
all of them by the end of the month.
Ong said unlike previous years
when she would have bunting and banners placed
at strategic points to convey festive greetings
to the residents, this year she has chosen to
wish them personally by meeting them, shaking
their hands and distributing calendars.
“This is a better idea as the
residents would see me in person and know the
person I am instead of just seeing an image of
me on bunting and banners trying to reach out to
them,’’ she said while distributing the
calendars at the Subang Jaya SS15 morning
market.
On Sunday morning, Ong and her
entourage went on a walkabout at SS 14 and 15 to
distribute 1,000 calendars which contained the
important dates of festivals, her personal
contact numbers and dates of important events in
Selangor and contact numbers of agencies like
the Fire Services Department, police and other
relevant agencies in the Kelana Jaya
constituency.
A special counter was also set up
outside the market premises for voters who had
queries and help new voters to register.
The staff manning the counters
also gave useful tips to those who wanted to
switch their voting centres. The group spent
about three hours to meet residents at the
market and commercial centres in SS14 and SS15.
