College students contribute groceries and cash
to Rumah Kids
A GROUP of
youths, comprising college students and those
aged 30 and below, showed their caring side for
underprivileged members of the community during
a recent event called Journey of Love.
The
enthusiastic group travelled in a convoy of 53
cars, which started from Taman Tasik Kelana Jaya
to the Kelana Jaya parliamentary liaison office
for a briefing, and continued on to Rumah Kids
in USJ1, Subang Jaya.
The event
was aimed at offering the youth of today an
opportunity to participate in a good cause and
take on some social responsibility, as well as
to show their love and care for the
underprivileged children.
The children
from Rumah Kids were mainly neglected or
abandoned boys and girls whose ages ranged from
four to 19 years old.
In addition
to spending time with the children and
befriending them, the convoy also contributed
some cash and goodies to Rumah Kids. The goodies
included groceries like cooking oil, rice and
toiletries, as well as books, stationery and
clothes.
The car
drivers were members of the Team Supreme, Team
Impact, ZUZ Society, Scream Society, Imagi-nation
Society and New Capture Society car clubs.
Led by event
coodinator Jonathan Yam, Journey of Love
was organised and supported by Kelana Jaya
parliamentary liaison officer and Kelana Jaya
MCA division chairman Ong Chong Swen.
