Safe city initiatives
SEVERAL areas in Subang
Jaya, USJ and Taman Perindustrian UEP will be
fitted with extra lights under the Safe City
programme.
The programme was
initiated by the Home Affairs Ministry and
Housing and Local Government Ministry to improve
township security in various parts of the
country.
Kelana Jaya parliamentary
liaison officer Ong Chong Swen went on a
walkabout with officers from the Subang Jaya
district police station, Home Affairs Ministry
and Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ)
recently to identify areas that needed extra
lighting, pedestrian rails and reflective safety
mirrors.
The USJ1 Angsana flats and
Jalan Mewah were among the areas that needed
additional lighting, while the MPSJ’s
landscaping unit was requested to trim the
branches and remove broken bottles at two parks
in Jalan USJ3/3M and Jalan USJ4/7.
The team proposed security
mirrors and rails be fixed at strategic spots in
Subang Jaya, USJ and Taman Perindustrian UEP.
Park users will also be
advised not to use the recreational areas as a
dumping ground.
Ong said several parts of
Subang Jaya had benefited from the programme,
such as pedestrian rails installed along
walkways in SS15 and 29 bus stops upgraded.
Kelana Jaya MCA division
secretary Gan Meng Foo and Kelana Jaya MCA
Wanita vice-chairman Lim Lean Huwa accompanied
Ong, who is also Kelana Jaya MCA division
chairman, during the visit.
