Disabled folk honours parents
Raising a
disabled child is a life-long process for the
parent and the efforts required is unimaginable.
To provide
an opportunity for the disabled children to show
their appreciation to their parents, Beautiful
Gate Foundation and Malaysia Parents of
Disabilities Association jointly organised the
Parents’ & Thanksgiving Day for Children with
Disabilities at Subang Avenue in Subang
Jaya.
“There are
parents of disabled children who are in a state
of denial, give up their responsibilities as
parents and abandon their children with
disabilities.
“On the
other hand, there are other parents who are
brave, uncaring about the strange looks given to
their children, and continually provide them
with care and love.” said Beautiful Gate
Foundation executive director Pastor Sia Siew
Chin.

Gratitude:
Although his father is always not around but Mun
Wai still have love from Uncle Leong.
“After my
mom passed away due to brain cancer, my father
has to play the role of both parents.
“He worked
hard to support the family financially and took
care of me due to my disability. I am thankful
for all he has done for me.” said 15-year-old
Bao Yi.
“I wish I
can work and earn money to support my father in
the future.” said 14-year-old Kenny who also
came from a single parent family and has
suffered from muscular atrophy since young.
Kelana Jaya
parliment coordinator Ong Chong Swen hosted the
opening ceremony. She said disabled children can
also become successful people and praised
parents who continuously support their children.
There were
40 families who participated. The children
showed their appreciation by singing Ou Yang Fei
Fei’s Thankful Heart and gave out
presents sponsored by Eu Yan Sang and Purple
Cane to their parents.
Event
organisers also had a game session which
provided great fun to the disabled children and
their families.
In addition,
an interesting dance performance by the Subang
Jaya & Putra Heights Line Dancers also received
good response from the audience.
After the
thanksgiving session, a scrumptious dinner was
prepared for the families.

president Elaine Sia thanked all the volunteers
and sponsors that made the event a great
